2023 ART BASH

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) annual fundraising event, Art Bash, raises over $2M for the museum’s free education and community engagement programs. Art Bash is comprised of a dinner for 350 guests followed by a museum-wide party for 2,000+ people. From one-of-a-kind artist-designed immersive experiences to live music and special performances throughout the night, Art Bash aims to engage and expand SFMOMA’s community of supporters. 

Art Bash welcomes a diverse crowd of museum donors and members, notable contemporary artists, local celebrities, and the greater Bay Area arts community to celebrate the art + artists of our time!

SCOPE

Plan and program SFMOMA’s highly anticipated annual fundraising party. Directing a small but mighty team to meet our revenue goal of $2M+ gross through strategic solicitation, marketing, and programming.

 

CHALLENGE & SOLUTION

Building on the success of Art Bash 2022 with a renewed focus on boosting awareness of the event and its philanthropic impact and highlighting hyper-local, Black, POC, and LGBTQI artists and performers who are representative of the Bay Area’s unique culture and diversity. Engage a planning committee to bolster our marketing efforts and cast a wider net by tapping into their networks. 

  • Facilitated brainstorming sessions for the team to ideate and set a vision for programming and a path forward in gaining buy-in from key stakeholders. 
  • Offered creative direction in partnership with our in-house Design and M&C teams to invigorate the overall brand identity + voice. Ensured marketing collateral and messaging were synonymous with the energy of our diverse art community and vibe of the event. 
  • Worked to identify and book artists that mirrored the ethnic and socio-political makeup of the SF Bay Area pushing for up-and-coming talent to be showcased in the marketing and programming of the event. Engaging artists and musicians like Sadie Barnette, Woody De Othello, Jeffrey Cheung, Rewina Beshue, Simón Malvaez, Amber Mark, Toro y Moi, Sir JoQ, Nicki Jizz, DJ Umami, & DJ Align.
