That’s right! We’re moving in less than a month’s time. 25 whole days from today! Count ’em folks! Count ’em! We’re excited and nervous all at the same time about starting a new adventure in a new city with our little family. I’m definitely going to miss home. It’s all I’ve ever known from Oak Cliff to H-tine’s 3rd Ward. Texas has my heart! I mean it’s only the greatest state country ever. If you have any issue with the previous factual statement, feel free to fight me. I’ve already started my “Adios Tejas” bucket list but I’ll save that for another post!
Ok, moving (no pun intended) right along…
I’m sure you’re wondering where pray tell we’ll be moving. Unless, of course, you already skipped ahead to find out. Shame on you!
Welp, here are a few clues:

Young Michelle from the South Side was born & raised there.
Clue #2
Harpo “Who Dis Woman?!” Studios is based there.
Clue #3
The Old Kanye was born & raised there.
Note: The New Kanye is in the sunken place also known as Calabasas.

No worries either way, Jesus still loves you!
Yep. CHICAGO, home of THE Obamas’ Hyde Park residence, Harold’s Chicken Shack, the Sears Tower, lakefront ‘beaches”, one of the most racially segregated cities in the US of A, a fierce baseball rivalry that probably has something to do with the last thing I mentioned, deep dish pizza (more of a New York slice girl myself) and Al Capone.
You might also be wondering why we’re moving to the good ol’ Midwest! No clues, this time. The mister was offered a job with a publishing company to come on as their Creative Director. Go, husband! Get yo money, blk man!
After many late night conversations and prayerful consideration we decided it was the best move for our family. Our faith is most certainly going to be our anchor as we make this transition. We do have some family and friends there so we won’t be completely on our own. However, we’re always looking to add to our tribe! So if you know some solid individuals in the Windy City, please share them with us. We promise not to bite!
Speaking of windy, ya’ll this Texas girl is NOT ready for Chicago’s cold! Guess I’ll just enjoy it’s fabulous summer. Hopefully, it will tide me over.
Any suggestions on things to do or people to meet in Chicago? Leave it in the comments below or email me.
