If you follow me on IG or Facebook then you know we are expecting and bébé Dawkins is due Dec 18th. EEK! You can go back to watch our announcement video on our business Youtube page.

I’ve been MIA most of this pregnancy with the exception of posting on social media but with only a few more weeks til’ his/her arrival and little more down time, I want to be sure to document this special time in our lives.

A couple weeks ago, some of my close friends and family showered us with love and gifts for our little one. As an event planner, I couldn’t help but put together an inspiration board for the hostesses. I know, I know! Even still, I was blown away with the way they interpreted it and made the space beautiful!

Theme: There wasn’t really a set theme but overall the shower was french inspired. Dave affectionately referred to me as “qīn ài de” (亲爱的, meaning “my dear/darling” in Mandarin) during our courtship and it just kind of stuck with me. I knew the Chinese translation would miss most, but I thought “mon petit chéri” or “my little darling” would be fitting for our little bébé on the way!

Color(s): I’ve been on a copper kick pretty much all year and when trying to decide on a color scheme for the nursery, I wanted to do unisex and a bit unconventional. I landed on white and green with copper accents for a boho chic look that could work whether we have a boy or a girl.

Activities: I am not a huge fan of games. No, like really – card games, board games, and team sports just aren’t my thing. Yo’ girl isn’t the most competitive or coordinated! So instead of your typical shower games, the lovely hostesses came up with a few fun and thoughtful activities for guests to participate in.

  • Guess BéBé Dawkins’ Name

We’ve chosen a unisex name because we’ve opted to wait and find out gender on d-day! I’ll give you a couple hints but no one has guessed it right so far! Hint: starts with an “A” and has a meaning! Leave your guess in the comments!

Food/Beverage: Can we say “brunch is life!”? I love breakfast/brunch food so it was a no-brainer to serve them at the shower! The menu included shrimp and grits, two kinds of eggs, bacon/sausage, turkey bacon, breakfast potatoes, yogurt parfaits, and fresh fruit! Drinks were all mommy friendly mocktails with fun takes on mimosas and bellinis!

Cake: The caketress, Lauren of Sweet Thangs by Lo, designed the cake for the shower and she did not disappoint. She never does! A two-tier cake with a copper “gold leaf” effect in lemon and strawberry flavors was perfect for the occasion!

Favors: I knew I wanted to gift a sweet treat to all those that attended. The original plan was to have live spun cotton candy but the companies I found were all booked. We ended up doing custom labeled (designed by the mister) cotton candy tubs in Champagne and Strawberry flavors from a local vendor. Sadly, not pictured. 🙁

Photos: Capturing the moment was important to me! Our friend, Afritina, photographed the shower and is responsible for most all of the lovely images you see in this post. Check her out for any of your lifestyle and wedding/event photography needs!

Dave joined in as we opened gifts and heard words of encouragement from our own mothers, other mommas in attendance, and friends/family. The mother of our church, West Dallas’s very own Ms. Annie, covered us in prayer and spoke words of life over our unborn child.

Aside from all the pretty, the shower was a sweet reminder of just how many people the Lord has placed in our lives to love and encourage us as we prepare to bring a child into this world. We are so thankful to have been showered with the presence of loved ones and gifts for baby!
